USA Medical Offers Tips on What to Do if Prescribed Medication was Dropped

Every year, the third-party administrators of health care plans review their prescription policies and routinely delete drugs from the list of covered medicines. Many times, they don’t notify members that their prescription has been dropped. It’s not discovered until they go to get a refill after the new plan year starts, and they find the price has gone up dramatically. USA Medical offers to help by providing discounts on medications through its customized prescription savings programs in all 50 states including: Texas Prescription Assistance Program, Florida Prescription Assistance Program and California Prescription Assistance Program.

To help avoid surprises, USA Medical recommends that consumers contact the administrator of their health insurance plan and ask for the 2018 list of approved prescription drugs. Then, if they do find their medication is no longer covered, they should ask their doctor if there is an alternative.

“If you want to continue taking a prescription that has been dropped because other drugs have not proven effective for you, our free Pharmacy Discount Card is an option to help you reduce the out-of-pocket cost. No medications are excluded from possible savings up to 75%, brand name or generic. We want to help you stay on the course of medication that has proven to work for you,” says USA Medical Co-Founder and President Jordan Sessler.

The pre-activated Pharmacy Discount Cards are accepted at more than 60,000 pharmacies across the country — local, regional and national chains such as CVS, Walmart and Walgreens. Thousands of popular medicines are eligible for savings, including medications prescribed for the side effects of chemotherapy such as: ondansetron, lorazepam, alprazolam, dronabinol and ferrous sulfate.
